For a quick proxy nirvana check out the documentation file 
"/usr/share/doc/squid-2.5.STABLE1/QUICKSTART". That will be enough to
get you started. If you want to play more with squid, install the Webmin
package and use it to configure Squid for yourself. When you are feeling
braver, see the /etc/squid/squid.conf file for more details
