Hi Joss,
I don't think this was answered. I don't know exactly how to do this but you 
may want to look at 'pipes' or is it 'named pipes'. It is possible to  
"listen" via a 'pipe' and presumably write that info to another file. 
Maybe someone familiar with that type of process can elaborate.
