I use Redhat 9 and in the past 3 months I have run into problems with X about 4 -5 times. Inexplicably X gives me a message to the effect that the X server is not configured correctly, would I like to fix the problem. Sometimes it happens when I logout and once it happened when accidentally the mouse chord came off the PC. Most commonly I have observed that it complains about the XFontPath element. In every case, I have tried peering into the XFree86.conf file without success and eventually I have reinstalled the OS from CD because repeated reboots will not solve the problem. Can I get a good reference to trouble-shoot problems with X. I am not tech-challenged, I am just looking for a good source of information that will help me fix problems with X.
