eth0 and eth1

Hi again...

I've tried a few things, but to no avail, but I thought I should better explain what it is I'm trying to do, what I have done, and what my setup is in hopes that someone can understand my gibberish. :)

I have two NICs in one of my boxes. One NIC, I want to use to connect to the Internet via the DSL modem (eth0). The other NIC, I want to be able to connect to my internal network (eth1). eth0 is set for dynamic ip, and gets all the info fine from the dsl modem, and eth1 is set to static, and I can see the box on my local lan. However, I cannot get out via eth0 when both nics are active. If I shut down eth1, I get to the net fine. I need to make eth0 my default nic card, but can't for the life of me figure out how. I've already tried to add a default route....

[root@web01 etc]# route add default eth0

but to no avail. Yes, I've restarted the network. Below is my setup.
