Sendmail: LOST INPUT CHANNEL (spamming?)

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hello List...

I had stopped my subscription to this list for a day but still I get a lot of the following messages in the maillog (and nothing in my usual mailbox).

Nov 10 18:41:31 angelico sendmail[1467]: hAAHehrH001467: lost input channel from mail.rhn.redhat.com [66.187.232.134] to MTA after rcpt
Nov 10 18:41:31 angelico sendmail[1467]: hAAHehrH001467: from=<dev-null@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>, size=2242, class=0, nrcpts=1, proto=ESMTP, daemon=MTA, relay=mail.rhn.redhat.com [66.187.232.134]
Nov 10 18:52:31 angelico sendmail[1560]: hAAHperH001560: lost input channel from mail.rhn.redhat.com [66.187.232.134] to MTA after rcpt
Nov 10 18:52:31 angelico sendmail[1560]: hAAHperH001560: from=<dev-null@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>, size=2168, class=0, nrcpts=1, proto=ESMTP, daemon=MTA, relay=mail.rhn.redhat.com [66.187.232.134]

This lost input channel message is becoming more and more frequent in my log, and for many different domains (not just redhat).

The following message type is also beginning to show up again and again:

Nov 10 17:49:14 angelico sendmail[1440]: hAAGmOrH001440: collect: unexpected close on connection from A17-250-248-47.apple.com (also other domains).

It a home server, RH 9 with sendmail-8.12.8-9.90 (up2dated)/no relaying/anti-spam blackhole list checking in config/check_rcpt rule

I don't know what's causing this, but suspect some spamming involvement? Any suggestions on what's going on and action I could take would be really appreciated.

thanks
/j-p.
