Sorry I missed this the first time through.  cron writes a list of all
packages to /var/log/rpmpkgs every day.  if the list is still there (in
one of the archived versions most likely) then you should be able to
install the packages again with --justdb and get the db built again.

 have not done it but IIRC the guy who started the thread referenced
above was quite pleased
