Slightly off topic seeing I am using Mandrake 9.0, but all the same...
My console is 1024x768 8bit, but my console mouse can only select approx. 80char x 22 lines, which is only a small fraction of the screen. It is making copy/paste next to useless. Is there a way to set console mouse support to use the entire screen area. Any and all help appreciated.

Text consoles ARE in fact 80 x 25 or so. The behaviour you're seeing is completely normal.
Just because your screen shows bigger, doesn't mean the content is any bigger. Such is the nature of a text console.
There MAY be a way to SET the text console to display more than 25 lines, as I distinctly remember a Linux server I played with that somebody had set to 50 or so lines using the vesa frame buffer driver so I guess it is possible, but I don't know how.
