RH 8/Apache 2 SSL Cert. Generation

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

I've got a new install of RH 8.0 up-n-running, and I want to replace the
"default" Apache 2 certificate/key, which was issued to
localhost.localdomain, with another certificate/test certificate for my box.
Since this is a development server, I don't really care that the cert cannot
be validated against a CA -- I only want encrypted traffic between the
browser and the server.

I found /etc/httpd/conf/Makefile, but when I run "make testcert", I get
prompted to enter a pass phrase for the cert. I tried entering a null pass
phrase, but openssl "informed" me that a minimum of four characters was
required.

Of course, this created a minor issue for me when I bounce the box 'cause I
now get prompted to enter the pass phrase so that mod_ssl can load.

Is there any easy way around this so that I don't get prompted for a pass
phrase when I bounce the server?

Sincerely,
