One it isn't scripted in Python.  It is a C application and tends to run
smoother, definitely launches faster.  I have had quite a few times when
I update things with up2date and it will hang and I will have to kill
it.  Not that it is anything against Python (to any Pythons in the
room..I program java) I just like the Red Carpet better.  I have yet to
have the same issues with Red Carpet.  I have also noticed that the
Panel applet for up2date will go crazy if it can't get a connection
(becomes non responsive).  I like the interface of Red Carpet better as
well.  Oh yeah, I never was able to create a new account on RHN using
up2date either.  But, not biggy.  I just like Red Carpet better overall.
It's GUI and display are more responsive than Up2dates.
