Ed,

Are you talking about the bios cacheable video memory (If it's that I've just 8M)? Whereas in Xfree86 conf I put the real memory size of the chipset (64M).

Yes, you are correct, sorry about that.

What amount of system memory have you dedicated to the video?

You need 15,925,248 bits (roughly) 15,552Kb (roughly) 15Mb to display 
that high at 16 bit. Even more for 24/32 bit.

Make sure you dedicate at least 16Mb to video memory then.
