Maybe not for this, but I am 95% braindead when it comes to *nix.

You really don't need a book for this one, it's all sitting on your 
computer already.

try 'man rpm'
and then maybe 'man man'

the command you're looking for now is rpm -e installedrpmpkg
i also recommend you read up about the -q option.
