Have you tried “yum list | grep java | grep open”

Have you specifically enabled the RHEL 8 for Appstream repository?

Thanks Mike for the quick response. Is there a way to enable the Appstream
repository on Red Hat Enterprise Linux release 8.7(Ootpa).

Please guide me. Thanks in advance.

Start out with listing the available repositories:

subscription-manager-repos --list

Find the repo ID you want and it should list "Enabled: 0" for disabled or "Enabled: 1" for enabled.

If "rhel-8-x86_64-appstream-rpms" is listed as "Enabled: 0" (i.e. disabled), run

subscription-manager repos --enable=rhel-8-x86_64-appstream-rpms

which should, then, enable it.

As an aside...this Google search:

https://www.google.com/search?q=enable+repo+rhel+8

Yielded this Red Hat knowledge article:

https://access.redhat.com/solutions/265523

As the very first result.
