It depends on the direction you want to take your career when you graduate. If you want to specialize on Red Hat systems (including CentOS and OEL) then you would be better off with the RHCA. If you want to work with any/all Linux/Unix systems then LPIC would be your better choice. Many of the skills you need for either of the certification paths are transferable to the other path as long as you understand the underlying concepts. However, if you're looking to advance your career in software development, either of these certs will give you a deeper understanding of the OS but probably wouldn't help getting a programming position. The best option for advancing your programming career would be to contribute to any of the open source projects that are out there. By the way, congratulations on obtaining your RHCSS!
