I use this controller and I know of another mate at the office who does.

It works well as a simple SATA controller for four drives (+1 on the mobo).
It is able to drive all disks at full speed and so far I did not have any
issues with it. I am on fedora 11.

My mobo is unable to handle five disks without hitting some internal
bottlenecks.

cheers

Does anyone have any experience with Adaptec controllers? Namely

I want to increase my machines drive capacity and reply the existing 2 port pci-e with this bad boy.

Also; any ideas of a good price? Have seen for ~70 + p&p
