Adaptec 1200A & Asus P2L97

I was hoping to turn an old desktop into a home file server using this
HPT370A based IDE RAID card and Asus PII motherboard. With the 1200A
installed, the system will not POST. The manual mentions the 1200A
requires a system that's PCI 2.2 (or previous revision) compliant. The
P2L97 is old enough that it only does PCI 2.1, and I wonder if that's the
problem or if my card is just DOA?
