today had lots of problems getting 3 * Promise Ultra66 controller to work
on each controller i have 2 hd's (2*80gb)
bios only detect 4 drives (and scans 8 possible devices)

bios 2.4.17 + latest ide patches

now i try to start raid, then i get these errors :

md: could not lock [dev 16:01], zero-size? Marking faulty.
md: could not import [dev 16:01], trying to run array nevertheless.

RAID5 conf printout:
 --- rd:6 wd:4 fd:2
 disk 0, s:0, o:1, n:0 rd:0 us:1 dev:hda1
 disk 1, s:0, o:1, n:1 rd:1 us:1 dev:hdg1
 disk 2, s:0, o:0, n:2 rd:2 us:1 dev:[dev 00:00]
 disk 4, s:0, o:0, n:4 rd:4 us:1 dev:[dev 00:00]
 disk 5, s:0, o:1, n:5 rd:5 us:1 dev:hdi1
raid5: failed to run raid set md0

so it goes wrong at the hdk1 and hdm1
i can see the partitions with fdisk

anyone knows what goes wrong ?

the raid works ok with the 2 onboard channels and 2 promise ultra66
controllers (but the 2 onboard channels are slower than ultra66 channels,
so i wanted to add another ultra66 controller)
