Hi all,
Recently I relaunched my quite old computer and connected it to TV (it's quite old so I didn't have monitor). The computer is connected to TV via HDMI using built-in GPU, and I experience following sound problems: - by default there's no sound over HDMI - pavcontrol shows two devices 1. RS880 HDMI Radeon HD4200 Digital Stereo (unavailable) (unplugged) 2. Built-in with various types (all unplugged) - in order to hear sound, I have to open pavcontrol, turn off Built-in, and select RS880 (even it's unplugged!) I wonder why this connection is shown as unavailable, unplugged, even if I get picture, and sound (however I have to reconfigure sound after every reboot). Below some logs, which may help sudo dmesg|grep -i hdmi [ 0.275650] ACPI: Added _OSI(Linux-Lenovo-NV-HDMI-Audio) [ 3.908867] input: HDA ATI HDMI HDMI/DP,pcm=3 as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:01.0/0000:01:05.1/sound/card1/input9 [ 4.408419] [drm] HDMI-A-1 [ 4.501475] snd_hda_codec_hdmi hdaudioC1D0: HDMI ATI/AMD: no speaker allocation for ELD [ 4.827597] snd_hda_codec_hdmi hdaudioC1D0: HDMI ATI/AMD: no speaker allocation for ELD [ 5.146638] snd_hda_codec_hdmi hdaudioC1D0: HDMI ATI/AMD: no speaker allocation for ELD [ 5.463625] snd_hda_codec_hdmi hdaudioC1D0: HDMI ATI/AMD: no speaker allocation for ELD [ 5.783663] snd_hda_codec_hdmi hdaudioC1D0: HDMI ATI/AMD: no speaker allocation for ELD (a lot of this) pacmd list-cards 2 card(s) available. index: 0 name: <alsa_card.pci-0000_01_05.1> driver: <module-alsa-card.c> owner module: 23 properties: alsa.card = "1" alsa.card_name = "HDA ATI HDMI" alsa.long_card_name = "HDA ATI HDMI at 0xfe6e8000 irq 19" alsa.driver_name = "snd_hda_intel" device.bus_path = "pci-0000:01:05.1" sysfs.path = "/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:01.0/0000:01:05.1/sound/card1" device.bus = "pci" device.vendor.id = "1002" device.vendor.name = "Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.
