Currently get_read_buffer_size fill output buffer size into third argument and input buffer size to fourth argument. And on the other hand, get_write_buffer_size fill output buffer size into fourth argument and input buffer size to third argument. So it is inconsistency in API, which cannot be fixed for obvious reason.
