help - sound distortion on lubuntu

Hi Team,
We have deployed lubuntu in our premises, and have installed pulse audio for the sound capability. When we play audio via 3.5 jack or USB headset we are facing a lot of distortion and static/humming sound. The distortion happens after 4-5 min of playing any audio files , at that point the pulseaudio CPU usage goes above 20% and it stays there, moment the usage comes down , sound will be normal but again the same happens. Please let me know what needs to be checked here.
