Pulse Audio and VNC

Hi All,
Sorry since I'm new to both Linux and PulseAudio but before starting installing PulseAudio, I would like to be sure that I'm on the right track. Hopefully someone can help and shed a light to me on the following scenario
I'm running two servers (DELL x86_64) on Linux Red Hat Enterprise 5.7. One of which is headless (rackmount) and running an application which monitors several sites simultaneously. An audible alarm will be generated if it detects any unauthorised entries. Remotely, I'm running a second server which connects to the first server via VNC. Graphically, it works fine with all displays on my remote server except audible alarm. There's no sound on my remote server via VNC.
I believe PulseAudio will solve my problem. Am I on the right track?. Any specific hardware that I would need on these servers to make it work? Also I assume that I only need to install Pulse Audio on the first server which monitors sites (not on the remote server - VNC client). Can I run PulseAudio 4.0 on Red hat 5.7 Enterprise?

Many thanks in advance

Minh Le
