USB Headset not detected after suspend/resume

I've noticed an issue, where sometimes after resuming for suspend, the
system will refuse to detect my usb headset. Right now I'm using gnome 3 on
arch linux, when this happens the headset does not show up in the sound
settings output tab, the laptop speakers work fine. Unplugging/Replugging
the headset does nothing.

It doesn't matter if the headset is plugged in when I suspended or not,
I've seen it happen in both situations, and it doesn't always happen (it
seems kind of random).

I also saw this happen when I was using XFCE and KDE on arch, and when I
used ubuntu 11.10. so I don't think its anything to do with gnome or the
distro. Today I think I narrowed it down to pulseaudio. When this happens,
if I run pulseaudio -k to restart pulseaudio, the usb headset pops up fine
in the sound settings.

The machine is an Asus u52f, and its a microsoft lifechat LX-3000 headset.
Right now I am on arch linux with pulseaudio version 1.1-2.
