What a shame. My Vostro V131 returns 0 in both Res1 and Res2, as
anticipated, without the ill effects you described.

I second these questions. And if the side effects Pali wrote about are
not expected, perhaps there is a well-known subset of devices this call
can be whitelisted or blacklisted on?
