(PJNATH) Mystery packets received via Stun socket - identified as from Spotify

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

For some time, our automated build-and-test machines have occasionally logged unexpected packets received via the Stun Udp socket.

We have now identified them as coming from a Spotify app running elsewhere on the lan: the first few bytes in the packet were “SpotUdp0”

Spotify shares music via p2p networking, and apparently it sometimes sends a broadcast on port 57621 to try to find other Spotify cients.

If we happen to get this port number allocated for the Stun port, it may get sent one of these peer discovery packets.
