Scheduling re-registration when Android sleeps

I'm using pjsua2 2.2.1 built for Android.

The interval between registers is set to 600 sec. Pjsua requests a new
register to the server after 595 sec. Thus I set a AlarmManager and a
WakeLock, to wake up the Android phone and turn on the wifi full
connection and CPU, to 594 sec after a register request.
When the Android phone is connected on USB or if I keep the phone turned
on this works normally, but when the phone sleeps the pjsua2 sometimes
sends the request only after 660 sec, and sometimes it doesn't sends a
new request at all.
Is it necessary any more settings to keep pjsip timers working when
Android sleeps?
