The DNS resolver on my host is working just fine, and no, the name cannot be resolved by nslookup for the very good reason that I specifically chose a name with no records associated with it. (This is for reasons described in an earlier post of mine--I'm connecting to a server with a specific cert that is on an arbitrary IP address and port that changes from time to time, and I'd like to authenticate the server.) Surely you aren't saying that a program crash and core dump is an appropriate repsonse to a failed DNS lookup. cjs -- Curt Sampson <cjs at cynic.net> +81 90 7737 2974 http://www.starling-software.com/ I have always wished for my computer to be as easy to use as my telephone; my wish has come true because I can no longer figure out how to use my telephone. --Bjarne Stroustrup
