General case of DTX and Silence suppression

Hello,

How is Silence suppression handled in the general case, where "SID like"
frames are not transmitted explicitly and occurrence of a period of
discontinuous transmission is determined by noting that the first packet
received after the silence period has an RTP timestamp that is not
contiguous with the end of the interval covered by the previous packet
while the RTP sequence number has incremented only by one.

It appears that the above mentioned method may be implemented by
endpoints to handle silence suppression (e.g RFC3389).

How is this case handled by PJSIP when using G729 codec through APS/VAS
direct ? Once the jitter buffer is empty, (i.e after the last packet
during a talk spurt) are silence packets automatically sent to the audio
device ?

Thanks in advance,

Regards,
Vikram.
