Unable to find audio device

Hi All-

I've been using PJSIP on my work machine with no problems, but trying to run
it on my home machine (Ubuntu 10.10) is giving me the following error when
making a SIP call:

pjsua_media.c Error retrieving default audio device parameters: Unable to
find default audio device (PJMEDIA_EAUD_NODEFDEV) [status=420006]

I've hunted around quite a bit for an answer to this and don't see a
solution. No audio devices are seen by PJSIP, even though:

($:~/Downloads/pjproject-1.8)- aplay -L
pulse
Playback/recording through the PulseAudio sound server
front:CARD=CMI8738,DEV=0
    C-Media CMI8738, C-Media PCI DAC/ADC
    Front speakers
rear:CARD=CMI8738,DEV=0
    C-Media CMI8738, C-Media PCI 2nd DAC
    Rear speakers
surround40:CARD=CMI8738,DEV=0
    C-Media CMI8738, C-Media PCI 2nd DAC
4.0 Surround output to Front and Rear speakers
surround41:CARD=CMI8738,DEV=0
    C-Media CMI8738, C-Media PCI 2nd DAC
4.1 Surround output to Front, Rear and Subwoofer speakers
surround50:CARD=CMI8738,DEV=0
    C-Media CMI8738, C-Media PCI 2nd DAC
5.0 Surround output to Front, Center and Rear speakers
surround51:CARD=CMI8738,DEV=0
    C-Media CMI8738, C-Media PCI 2nd DAC
5.1 Surround output to Front, Center, Rear and Subwoofer speakers
iec958:CARD=CMI8738,DEV=0
    C-Media CMI8738, C-Media PCI DAC/ADC
    IEC958 (S/PDIF) Digital Audio Output

And when I compiled, the sound backend was seen as "Unix".

What do I need to do to enable sound?

Thanks,
Ryan
