pjsip Digest, Vol 39, Issue 33

I had a struggle with these functions too. I guess it hasn't been 
documented very clear.
They do not really adjust the volume level, but they adjust the 
amplification of the sound.

So that is why zero mutes too, because 0 times the tx/rx would be zero 
too ;)
To unmute it, just set it back to 1, which means the volume of rx/tx is 
not adjusted at all.

I think you are getting the idea now right, 0.5 gives you half the 
volume of the stream, while 2 doubles it.
That is how it works!
