Testing ICE demo across WAN

Hello,
           I did try running the PJNATH ICE demo across the internet.
           I launched one instance as offerer and another as answerer on
another machine.
           They have only private IP addresses starting as 192.*.*.*.

           Is it a must that there is a need for STUN and TURN server for
testing them.

            Please advise.
