Using iPhone's codec

mmm

it seems to me that on Symbian and iPhone there's the same issue.

It's possible to use hardware encoding along with "tipically non-free"
codec like AMR-NB that's very low bandwidth and very important for VoIP
over 3G in terms of quality and performance.

For Symbian and for iPhone which would be the "common" modifications
about having a directly-pjmedia-hardware-hooked cross-platform APIs for
both those two platforms?

It's possible to think about something "generic and cross-platform"
where to hook already available codec API for mobile devices?

Following the direction of making pjsip a platform optimized for Mobile
usage this would provide a strong improvement (Symbian to iPhone
interoperability with Low-Bandwidth-VoIP using AMR-NB codec!) .
