We do need to document this sort of thing properly to advise where a tidy up in PHP7 will break something in PHP5, Almost needs a comment? // $bodge needed for PHP5 compatibility can remove when PHP7 only While BC breaks should be kept to a minimum between PhP5->PHP7, I can see a lot of potential black holes where PHP7 facilities will stop ode also running on PHP5.
