The reason I prefer spaces over tabs is because in my experience fonts on different platforms and sizes seem to render tabs slightly off. So on some font combinations my code lines up fine, while on others it doesn't. Perhaps it is something stupid I'm doing. At work I use monaco 14 point. At home I use Bitstream Vera Sans Mono ~8 pt.
