I'd say overkill for the end result (could be done in plain Javascript
without any "Ajax" calls), but then that's not really the point of the
page... it's more to demonstrate the methods rather than the end
results... and just goes to show that there are multiple methods of
removing the epidermus from a feline. :p

Well yes, it is an overkill to simply display a gif in different positions over time -- but as you said, that was not the point of the demo.

While I may be just discovering what's obvious to everyone else, this has been an awakening for me. The idea that I could have processes going on in the background (server-side) and also communicate in real time with the user (client-side) as to what was happening was significant for me. Thus, my preparation of the demo. I see all sorts of applications.
