I believe that there may be some constructs within printf() that could
make it slower than just echo -- and possibly in some cases with no
real difference in output.
printf("%s", $foo) should not be THAT much slower than echo $foo, so
unless you're in some kind of tight loop with a zillion of them, it
won't matter.
I'm always befuddled by people arguing about the performance of this
or that when it's a NON-ISSUE for the context in question, 99.9% of
the time.
