Stripping weird characters from RSS feed

Hi All,

I have a RSS feed aggregater that grabs RSS from the net then stores it
to a MySQL database. Once in a while I get feeds with weird characters
look really bad. 

Such as:

Â
Ghana: Country Loses ¢20.2bn Through Music Piracy
Angola: Virgílio Fire to Release New Album Soon

Trucks’in into 2006

The Best CDs of 2005: Editor’s Picks

These are copies of the links, as you can see there are some strange
characters.

Any suggestions on how to deal with these would be appreciated.
