Personally I am an organization freak so I tend to do the first option - store the images in individual folders, generally using the unique username to create the folder itself. That way when I need to look at a group of images/files/whatever for that user, I can just pull up their directory. I seriously doubt there is much of a performance hit either way, but it would be interesting to benchmark that. <?php /* Stephen Johnson c | eh The Lone Coder http://www.thelonecoder.com stephen@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 562.924.4454 (office) 562.924.4075 (fax) continuing the struggle against bad code */ ?> > From: Thomas <thomas.hochstetter@xxxxxxx> > Date: Wed, 29 Jun 2005 17:38:10 +0200 > To: <php-general@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> > Subject: Conceptional question > > Hi there, > > > > I have a conceptional question about storing images/files on a server. I have done the last quite often (just renamed > the files to the insert id) with good success. > > > > Any ideas? > > > > Thomas > -- PHP General Mailing List (http://www.php.net/) To unsubscribe, visit: http://www.php.net/unsub.php
