Yours e-mail fixed some procedural doubts I have been thinking about such automatic responder. Solution might be easy to achieve by implementing, on my own opinion, a Javascript code with a nested 'SetTimeOut' function recursively calling itself every 5 mins (for example) and re-direction to a php code performing the POP3 mailbox checking. (obviously the php code shall include ECHOes to the timing Javascript code again...)
