Hi. Are you using the webserver PHP module? If so you should 
be able to get the output from php_info() displayed in a 
browser window. It's alot easier to debug PHP setup from 
there. Looking at the output from php_info() in a browser, 
you should see the mysql nad mysqli modules loaded. See if 
you have got that far.
