I think any of the free web designers (think wix or squarespace) would easily have a template that could take posting and commenting while still being low maintenance for the group. That way you can have your own EULA and rules. With the right free developer, the site could still stay on the local servers as it does now. I think a ‘craigslist’ minimalism is all that is needed here and not get to hung up on flashy web features.
You have to balance loosing current users versus gaining new exposure. Many will just not move. Never was a fan of Facebook. Still don’t have an account for what it is worth.
