Emily.

The stairs (At Osbourne House on the Isle of Wight) have certainly seen better days.

Guessing they were in their prime whilst Queen Victoria was still alive,
They do look bleak in real life now - preserved rather than restored.

Texture?  None added
Not sure what might have caused any "blocking" - was with a proper camera :)
Certainly didn't set out to do anything "clever" with the "processing".

As to the canting ... the angle was certainly chosen other than by accident.
...  to use 3 corners.

In the scheme of things it's just a "record shot".

Thanks for commenting.

These stairs are very interesting too.  The texture looks like it’s been superimposed on the original image.  Something blocky about it which makes me wonder.  And yes, the canting is disconcerting.  Sometimes one doesn’t realize how one’s brain has fooled one when taking the photo and then there’s not enough data to correct the error.  Sometimes it’s intentional and the viewers get to wonder whether that’s the case or not!

The palette is very warming, although there’s an innate bleakness about the stairs.
