You are right. I don't like ADOBEs way of business, selling the same product in different prices to different parts of the world. I think their last invention of storing the images on their servers is aimed toward two goals: 1. "Locking" you as a captive customer who must continue with them. 2. Put a hand on a big photo stock like FB and Google do on other kinds of data. (Pictures and movies are also a kind of data.) I am still a customer of Adobe because of Photoshop but manage my images and edit them primarily on Phase One. They improved the managing capabilities a lot. The only drawback of CO is a long learning curve. Pini From: PhotoForum [mailto:photoforum-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Laurenz Bobke With Lightroom going to subscription only, are any of you switching to an alternative programme? Do you have any experiences with Affinity photo? The subscription seems to be even more expensive here in Europe than in the US and it seems to me that Adobe is pushing customers generally in the direction of the cloud solution. I know they are promising to continue support for the "classic" version, but then didn't they also promise to continue selling non-prescription versions? Apart from the price of the subscription I am feeling more than slightly uneasy about having no control over the programme and (in the case of the new "CC") even my own data. |
