God, they grow up so fast. I remember when she was a little girl! There’s a lot of non-involvement in the faces there. Altho your neice is trying to block, she’s not looking at the ball or the other girl’s hands. The girl from behind is looking like she doesn’t know what she’s there for. Did you get lots of other shots in this series? Are some of them more interconnected?

Sorry about that. I always love the way little mid-western towns try to put on the ritz with their fake facades. The thumbnail is especially disorienting due to the wide angle lens with the clapboards being horizontal but the street line not. I think I would have fixed a lot of that in PS after peeking at my LCD screen to see what the image actually looked like. Our brain makes so many corrections.

There’s something very posed about this. Maybe it’s how deliberate the lifted leg looks, no curvature of the body from the shoulders to the toes. If she was dancing while you were shooting did you stomp on the shutter release and then pick the best shot of the bunch? Shooting sports is a specialized skill, whether in the studio or on the court or on the water. Overshoot, overshoot, overshoot. Dump the tripod and kick up the ISO.

I didn’t have much time to fuss with focal point or exactly where things lined up, but I especially liked the way the angle of the phone to the chain link fence accentuated the feeling of rushing towards the Pru while I was rushing towards the T.

The story’s not in the photo, Chris.

Now I’m out of opinions. Back to scanning. Only one more year to go.
