Don't know about LR as I had it only one month. But if you have access to a Photoshop stand alone you can set Bridge to put the key word right under the thumbnail (under the file name)  I have found this to be very helpful when sorting.  Also I assume LR also have a feature were you can pick on keyword from the list of all keywords under a particular folder like Bridge does and Bridge will display only those files with that key word.
