My brief impressions re: PF photographs here: http://people.rit.edu/andpph/gallery.html

Art Faul - Str8 from the Heart, Guldbergmobil - Impressive photograph and while I appreciate the details given about its making I really don't grasp what actually was done. I assume that this has to do partly with the fact that our brains have a hard time dealing with images that were made sequentially as we tend to perceive things as if they happened instantatneously. I agree with the black velvet statement (the higher end the better!).

Dan Mitchell - Petals - Hmmmm ... placement of the flowers and the fact the primary one is facing away is a problem for me. The facing away item reminds me of photographs in general that show people or animals, etc. from the rear ... moving away from the camera.

Jim Snarski - Let's Do Lunch - I like this photograph quite a bit. Maybe because I've seen such behavior in these birds myself. But even if that were so I like the placement and atmosphere.

Bob Sull - What's in there? - Neat spontaneous photograph. Good expression IMO. Real.

Randy Little - For Mao and Country - Charming whimsical photograph. I find it hard to relate to it but that is my shortcoming I think.

Emily Ferguson - French frigate L'Hermione enters Narragansett Bay, RI - I can imagine the environment and "feelings" associated with the event but the atmosphere does not quite come through maybe due to haze but actually that would add to the perception. Maybe the size of the image on my screen is too small. Hmmm ... got to look at it some more.

Yoram Gelman - Lillies - In my opinion, placement of the primary lily in lower right corner is a bit off-putting. Water drops are a positive detail IMO. I think that these lilies as well as most other flowers are a bit of a challenge to convey their "essence" properly.
