You can buy a program for about $100.00 that will let you access all the files on the broken hard drive. I'm on the road but I think the one I have is called something like PC Rescue?? but there is probably a free one somewhere on the web. You might even download the free trial one from Seagate.

If she still has her old computer, most of the files on the hard drive can probably be recovered. Should cost around around $400 + the cost of the new drive. I've done it several times.

I'm pretty sure you can't go backwards in LR.

She was using a five-month-old, stand-alone version of LR5 via download from Adobe. Her tech support guy wanted to get her up and running in LR, was having trouble finding a download of LR5 so downloaded the trial version of LRCC. He then opened her LR5 catalog in LRCC which updated it to the CC version. Assuming she can find an old version of LR5 to download to her new computer will she be able to get her catalog to open in it or is she now stuck using LRCC? She’d prefer to stay in LR5 because it’s new, paid for and she’d prefer not to have the ongoing expense of the subscription plan. Thanks for your expertise. Lea ----- No virus found in this message.
