My two cents:

No experience with Lightroom 6 (= CC) here, but I doubt that the database functions changed much, which would affect existing catalogs.
The CC-LR appears to incorporate some of the formerly exclusive PS functions, such as HDR and panorama pics merging and not a lot else.

No back-ups or original CDs at your client’s place?
