Just to expand on that a little. I do go to the store for rentals but even then its usually all done at the rental studio or shop. To that end. B&H on 9th is more for tourist attraction then to cater to the pro market.
Klaus in NYC you have to remember that B&H is a store front on top of there warehouse in a building they own. Adorama is the same way. I don't know about K&H but I'm guessing they do as well. I do know in NY and LA calumet wasn't competing with anything else. Their rental dept wasn't as strong and their staff is always nice they tended to be less qualified then some of the bigger better marketed stores.

Well thats all great. But I have corporate accounts with stores that give me better prices then what I can get locally. In fact Samy's in los angeles has an in store penalty on my account. So I don't even go into the store unless I have too. I can order online and just pick up at the store if I need to. My accounts in NYC are with B&H and K&M. I had an account with calumet for a long time but I hardly ever used it because they prices where always high. I know very few professionals that go to the store. On Thu, Mar 13, 2014 at 3:49 PM, rene@xxxxxx <rene@xxxxxx> wrote:
I do if prices are the same. I like to buy local and support the local economy. Also it is sometimes nice if I need service.

Does anyone on this list still buy their equipment and materials from a real brick and mortar store anymore? Sobering news in
Chicago today is that Calumet US has ceased operations and shut down for good. A quick call to Calumet UK assures me that they are
and will remain open for the foreseeable future. I guess the moral to this store is that if you don't want the last of your camera
shops to close their doors, buy from them when you can instead of the faceless places on Amazon and ebay.
