You see, that's just it. If you belittled people in a live, in-person group of a similar nature, you'd have been sent packing long ago or someone would have cleaned your clock (for which you have a lineup on this list). That anyone finds online discussion an opportunity to be flip with others' emotions is unfortunate, and I've certainly been guilty of this myself. But, for it to monopolize your persona, as you say, such that you need to declare that you're not really like this in person, is a significant measure of disrespect to anyone looking to this forum as a community for learning. As an educator and technology integration specialist, I believe that learning is the cornerstone of any social network. Having an alternative, or enlightened point of view is of great benefit. However, to be dismissive of, or to attack, perspective is terribly counterproductive.
I've met one member of this forum in person. He was a class act in person, and is a class act online as well. Your wealth of knowledge, experience, and work is of tremendous value to this community. Your panoramic work is of great interest to me. Unfortunately, your barbed, holier-than-thou veneer makes such a fountain less than potable.
Do you even value online communication? If not, why engage?
