It’s about the pentaprism, as it is heavy and adds to the manufacturing cost rather significantly. There is also a patent for the instant return mirror which has to be paid for and the owner is Pentax.

Mirror less cameras are just something else for the conglomerates to sell you. Manufacturers put an awful lot into sales pitches, and humans are such suckers, we bite down on all of it.
