I guess MOrtensen was dismissed as sort of pulp fiction a the time; by the purists and technical gods.

Though Mortensen did get his small revenge. Most of his work is saved in a center/gallery Adams funded and much to Adams objection and much to the curator's persistance!

Well you can blame f64 club for his and the other pictorialist demise.   It seems photoshop may have lead to the return of pictorialism from the niche and thats fine by me.  I think Atche would approve.

Anyway, I do not know how i discovered Mortensen. but it has been an eye opening experience....
What an unconventional photographer...And dediacted to his art. The meticulous detailing of his prints is legendary.
 
Anyway, i worked har to make a presentation of his work for our cameraclub, including simulations of hsi printign techniques.
 
Randy i feel he should eb up there in the pantheon of Big photographers and taught in any school.
